![]() ![]() then there's the cleaning of rifle and cases before they rust.I am over it and once I finish off the 200 BP loads I already have I will switch to a smokeless load. Drop tube, compression dies, special bullet lubes, felt wads. Let me tell you its a hoot to shoot but there is a lot more maintenance involved when loading centerfire cartridges with BP. I load my 45-70 cases with a 405 gr LFN bullets over a charge of 70 grs of FF Goex BP. Although I do own a semi modern falling block rifle, a Pesersoli Sharp model of 1874. I prefer traditional smoke poles over inline rifles just like I prefer the smell of real Goex BP over Pyrodex. I haven't taken a deer yet but muzzleloading season just started and I may give it a try. Those were ok but I found balls to be sufficient for my needs. I have also tried the lead slugs and the modern jacketed bullets with the plastic green sleeve/base. I have tried more powder but I don't see that much of an improvement over 80. My load is also 80 grs of FF over a patched ball. ![]()
